Future Missionary Pilots &  Mechanics of America

Mission

If you are interested in a career as a pilot, or aircraft mechanic, then consider Missionary Aviation. What would be more satisfying than flying and maintaining aircraft to serve God and help his people in remote areas by delivering materials to build wells, medicine to save lives, or deploying Missionaries to spread the gospel to save souls?

On average, it COULD take about seven - ten years in preperation to qualify as a Missionary Pilot and Mechanic. It depends on your determination. There are training organizations that can get you there within 5 years so do your research. Pilots that have their Airframe & Powerplant license are preferred so think about getting your license along with an IA (Inspection Authorization) certification.

You will also find training organizations that will help you pay for your training through apprenticeship.

Take into consideration that classes in Theology are often required, so check with your community college to see if they offer a course and tackle that early on during your flight training. It would be an asset whether it's required or not.

In Missionary Aviation you will be responsible for raising money to support yourself while serving. There are a few exceptions so do your research, but those that require you to raise funds will usually teach, and help you get started raising funds.

As you can see it could take a lot of time to become qualified to work in the field and it could be overwhelming at times, but the rewards are endless. There are people in our Facebook group that are willing to offer advice and point you in the right direction if you ask.
